A little Q&A about individual sessions:
“Who needs a life coach? ”
Anyone! Life coaches work with the full spectrum of clients from someone who is highly motivated and full of momentum, to someone who is feeling completely stuck in a rut, rundown, and unsure about what direction to move towards next. YOU decide what you want to get out of treatment, and everyone’s journey is completely different.
“What are the sessions like?”
Every session is going to be different because every client is different but a few things remain the same for everyone. The initial intake session is where we go over paperwork and your self evaluation, discuss your reasons for reaching out and expectations for treatment, and determine where you want to be in the next 30, 60, 90+ days.
All sessions that follow are personalized to what YOU want to work on. We discuss progress from the previous session, what you want to accomplish this time, and determine the best route to take going forward with guidance and techniques that can be helpful if you’d like feedback and direction. Sometimes clients simply want someone to be present and supportive, so sessions may be a safe place to vent about whatever struggles the person chooses to talk about; however, we will always try to end with some sort of resolution, action step, or positive affirmation.
“Is it always about the future? What about problems from my past?”
While the primary focus of life coaching is to help empower each client to reach and maintain their own personal goals of living their best life, this does not mean that the past is off limits. As an Integrative Life Coach, I am qualified to help you take an honest look at these past issues that could still be causing problems for you today. Together, we determine what is helpful, what you’d like to change, and how to move forward from any obstacles that may be holding you back. YOU determine the road we take together.
“How long does treatment take?”
This depends on the severity of the problems that are presented and the motivation of the client to move towards balance and resolution. The intensity of treatment is also a personal choice; We can meet weekly, biweekly, or on a monthly basis depending on progress and comfort level.
“What if this isn’t the right fit for me?”
No hard feelings! If we determine that these services are not what you need, I can help point you in a different direction with professional referrals if desired or you are welcome to look for a different route on your own. Only YOU will know what feels right and what doesn’t. Don’t be afraid to speak up.
